Contemporary Romance

Do you like contemporary romance? Me too. Thus the reason I write it although I do write historical too or I did. I haven't in awhile.

Contemporary romance is nice because to me, it's easier to imagine myself in the heroines shoes living the life of the tortured victim saved by the gorgeous hero. For me the hero is always an alpha cowboy. LOL I know, big surprise, eh?

In my latest WIP, I'm writing about one of the Young brothers in my Cowboy Dreamin' series. This will be book 5 and so far the one winning the race for my attention is Jeremiah. He's the financial planner/investor for the family and the ranch. He's the money man and boy does he do a good job for both himself and his family.

Unfortunately, he's stubborn as is all alpha males, right? He think he knows what is best and for now, it's not Callinda Lewis who he has known since he was a little kid. They grew up together, went to high school together, but he has never thought of her as anything other than a cute nerdy sort of girl who likes lots of things boys like. She's into cars, four-wheelers, fishing, hunting, and hanging out. They aren't really best friends or anything, but he's always considered her a friend. She's always wanted more.

Well they start hanging out together as friends more, until Jeremiah has a chance to get laid by a guest at the ranch and stands up Callie on their date out at The Dusty Boot.

Anyway, let's just say, Callie is not a happy camper and tells Jeremiah off.

So far the attraction sparks are there, but Jeremiah is scared of the depth of his attraction to Callie and she's pissed because he stood her up.

This should be an interesting story when it's all said and done.

For now, I'll leave you with my inspiration for Jeremiah and let you drool of this mighty fine young man until the book releases in June.

For this post, leave me a comment about your ultimate alpha hero in a contemporary romance and I'll pick 5 winners to receive the first book in the series, Make Mine a Cowboy in signed ebook format.

Mesa Arraguso writes about hot cowboys for a living. Being a romance writer has it perks and its drawbacks. She spends a lot of time alone in front of her computer, but she gets to fantasize about incredibly hot men wearing cowboy boots and Stetsons. While visiting San Antonio, Texas for a writer’s conference, she finds herself stranded on the back roads of Bandera only to be rescued by one of the most gorgeous men she’s ever encountered, be it fantasy or for real.

Joel Young is a cowboy. From the top of his Stetson to the tip of his dirty cowboy boots, he’s cowboy through and through. Along with rescuing women when they do silly things like running out of gas miles from town on a dirt road, he spends his days herding cattle, fixing fences and breaking horses.

Can one handsome cowboy and a city-girl from LA find common ground in the Hill Country long enough to see beyond a quick fling?

I'm going to be honest, I don't read many contemporary romances. I'm more of a paranormal romance type of gal. But did just read an urban PR based in contemporary times, (Cloaked in Fur by T.F. Walsh) and my favorite alpha male appeared in there. His name is Enre and he is a smart ass and comes off cocky, but he really is wounded inside. He loves the main female enough to let her go and love someone else. *swoon* I love silent heroes!

Thanks for participating in the hop! I love finding out about other authors' WIPs.

My favorite alpha male in a contemporary romance is Sam Starrett in Gone Too Far - Suzanne Brockmann. It's one of her older books but Sam is hot!

LOVE those gorgeous cowboys, especially the ones in your books.

My favorite alpha hero is Wolfe Jackson in Dangerous Curves. He's impulsive, the type that would take a bullet for a friend.

Nothing personal Sandy but I tend to like my regency heroes.
I'll let the ladies win.

I like an alpha that is strong willed that has to be put in his place by a woman.
Thanks for the chance!

My alpha hero has to have great manners but can be very forceful when he needs to be. A great body is always nice too

Love a strong man, one who can dominate but make a woman feel lovd and cherished! And making him a sexy cowboy is like the cherry on top!
